The Road to Thebes: Niobe and Amphion

The Road to Thebes: Niobe and Amphion - Victoria Grossack, Alice Underwood NO SPOILERS!!!

Having completed this book, I have read three novels by the author Victoria Grossack and her coauthor Alice Underwood. My favorite is without a doubt Jocasta: The Mother-Wife of Oedipus. I gave both this and Children of Tantalus four stars. Here is my review of this book: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/166058603
I fear that I have reached a saturation point, but remember I am one of those strange individuals that distinctly avoid books in a series. If you want to read just one book, I highly recommend Jocasta.
4. There are many gods and many kings and queens and princes and princesses and aspiring lower caste individuals. The feuds and intrigues ARE the theme of the ancient myths. BUT........ somehow the controversies seem to me now as incessant bickering. So I have no right to be annoyed, but the truth is I am. There are so many relationships - who is the half-sister or daughter or jealous prince of whom - that I get a bit bored and confused. I make all sorts of charts. I do not think a reader should be doing what I am doing. One should just sit back and enjoy. Most people I suppose can do that. I cannot.

The characterization of the individuals remains well done, but there is nothing new for me. I already know who they are. For me, the book isn't working. I will continue. I hope it improves for ME. I want to enjoy this as much as I think others will enjoy it.

Look, I have to be honest. What good is praise if it isn't true.
